Foul/ fava bean dip Empty Foul/ fava bean dip

As salaamu alay kum,

1 can 540ml of fava beans (rinse a couple times)
1/3 cup olive oil
1 tbls of lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 to 3/4 water reserved after cooking the fava beans

Put the beans in a small sauce pan and cover them with water. Put on high heat and when it comes to a boil let it cook for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes pour off some of the cooking water except about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of it. In the same put crush with a potato masher or the bottom of a coffee mug if you don't have one. Make it very smooth then add the oil and salt and mix well. Last add the lemon juice and mix. Put in a bowl or a plate with high sides. The odd time my husband eats it with cumin powder but not very often so I don't know the exact measurements. I would say about 1/2 tsp but its up to your taste add it at the same time as the salt and olive oil. Serve with pita bread, falafel, cheese, hot peppers, olives, eggs, well there are many ideas to serve it with ether way ENJOY!!!
